Chapter 2.6: Foreign Language Requirement
by Bri Christophers, last updated 08/30/16 by Sarah Tian
One requirement for graduating with an A.B. degree from Princeton is demonstrating proficiency in a foreign language. Note that engineers are not required to complete a foreign language as part of their undergraduate degree, but this doesn’t mean that B.S.E. students can’t take a foreign language. Princeton defines proficiency using a variety of metrics so these are the ways that you can fulfill the requirement:
- Submit scores from before Princeton: AP exams, IB scores, A-level scores, SAT II Subject Tests (see the scores needed on this table).
- Complete an introductory language course sequence (usually 3-4 semesters).
